To focus on the delegates' individual needs in relation to the planned training, obtain background information on the company culture, communication style etc.
Conducting interviews allows us to:
> Explore the areas of most concern in relation to the planned trainingWithin ten days of the interviews, a report will be issued to management on the findings of the interviews and the impact on course content will be discussed and agreed.
The report will identify key issues and contain other useful feedback obtained from the interviews. This can include the following:
> Identification of any 'hidden issues' that may be impacting on the effectiveness of the departments within the organization.These are for delegates and their line managers to agree on the delegate’s objectives for the course.
Spearhead introduced Pre-Course Briefing Forms to assist in measuring the effectiveness of training and for delegates and managers to list their objectives for their course. Where it is not possible to interview delegates prior to the course, the completed Pre-Course Briefing Forms are essential in defining needs.
The fully tailored course content is finalised and the delegates trained in the relevant techniques and skills.
The objectives agreed in the Pre Course Briefing Forms between delegate and manager, will be included as part of the overall objectives to be achieved from the training programme.
At the end of the training, delegates are asked to fill in and commit to the content of their own Personal Development Planner. This is a tool for the delegate and the management to assess the level of implementation and the effectiveness of the training.
Delegates will be asked to complete their PDP in the training room, to list new objectives identified as a result of the training. This will assist them to improve individual performance through the application of new knowledge and skills in their daily work. They are requested to share their goals with both Spearhead and their manager, so that the application of the acquired skills back in the workplace can be monitored.
