Cheryl is a highly qualified trainer, with over eighteen years experience in training and management development. She joined Spearhead Training, Dubai, in 1999.
A native of Australia, Cheryl has a great deal of ‘hands on’ experience, particularly in the field of Human Resource Management across both public and private sectors. This includes HR planning, job evaluation, recruitment, performance appraisal and disciplinary action.
Cheryl has also worked extensively in the following areas: operations management, team management, change management, team building and leadership, job evaluation and performance management. She has held executive positions in a number of different posts in Australia.
After taking her MBA in International Management in Darwin, Cheryl moved to Asia where she worked for two years holding positions as corporate adviser to large Malaysian companies. At the same time, she continued to deliver high quality training workshops to major companies, including Petronas, Gillette and Nestle. Many of these were for Senior Management teams.
Cheryl has a particular interest in multi-cultural management, and has worked with a diverse range of nationalities in Asia. She was the creator of a special course for Spearhead Training – ‘Managing a Multi-Cultural Workforce in the Gulf’. Her other key interests lie in senior management and support staff training, with specialities in management, communication skills, problem solving, creativity, HR issues and teambuilding.
Cheryl brings a meticulous detail to preparation and planning into the training room, and has developed a style that both challenges and stimulates the delegates. She can deliver to the highest level of management, but also has the ability to work with supervisors and team leaders. She is able to build effective relationships with delegates, who may display a range of abilities, from slow to fast learners. This combination makes her a highly popular and sought after trainer.
Currently based in Kerala, India, where her husband’s job relocated to, Cheryl is now in her second year of research for her Doctoral studies (Ph. D) in the field of management and leadership competencies.
Her specialty training subjects are as follows:
