B.A. (Hons) International Business
Senior Management Associate, Spearhead Training, Qatar

Jane is a U.K. national, who has lived and worked in the Middle East since 2007. She currently resides in Doha, Qatar, having previously lived in Abu Dhabi. She holds an H.N.D. qualification in International Marketing gained in 1994, and later secured a degree in International Business from the University of Northumbria, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, U.K. in 1996. In 2005, Jane also attained her C.I.P.D. Certificate in Training Practice, with Distinction. Jane’s academic qualifications, combined with her extensive hands-on business experience, has given her the ability to assist in vastly improving key management skills across different levels of management in organizations, with particular emphasis on leadership, pro-active management, sales, marketing, and customer service.

After leaving university, Jane’s career started in Newcastle as an account manager for a Swedish car component manufacturer, where she liaised with all internal departments, to provide high quality service for a wide range of international customers in the U.K. and Spanish markets. In 1998 she relocated to Poole in Dorset, where she joined Reed Recruitment, and assisted in the running of the local branch, in what was a highly competitive market. Her responsibilities included all aspects of the recruitment process, from finding new clients, building strong relationships with them, and ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction. This approach led to her attaining the company’s highest ever permanent placement revenue for the region. This success resulted in promotion to the position of Training and Development Officer at Reed Business College, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, U.K.

During her 2 years at Reed Business College, Jane’s role included running a 6-day residential induction course for all new members of staff, to help them achieve the ‘Certificate in Professional Recruitment Services’ qualification. The course included: communication skills, sales and negotiation skills, business development skills, employment law, and all aspects of conducting ‘best practices’ in business. This qualification was accredited by Royal Holloway, University of London, where Jane also participated on sub-board meetings, to develop and verify the qualification with the University.

In 2002, Jane further progressed her training and development career, by joining First Choice Holidays and Flights (now part of Tui Travel P.L.C., which includes Thomson Travel and other well known European travel brands in its group.), as a Senior Frontline Trainer. Her responsibilities in this role related to training customer facing employees from the retail, airline, call centre, and head office divisions. In this role she developed and delivered a wide range of behavioural skills training programmes, covering areas such as induction, key H.R. skills, time management, communication, sales, leadership, assertiveness, coaching and motivation. She was also heavily involved in developing a new competency-based framework to replace the existing appraisal system within the company. She was then involved in training management in how to successfully implement the new system.

Jane’s experience led to another promotion in 2004, to manage the Training and Development function for a newly created ‘shared-service’ department. This new department was created to provide internal services for the businesses, combining the H.R., payroll, and recruitment functions, for the entire organization. It was staffed by over 150 personnel, and was key to the success of individual businesses within the Group. To ensure the success of the unit, delivering ‘unsurpassed customer service’ was of paramount importance. This commitment and passion for excellence at all levels in organizations is what Jane considers to be of vital importance to organizations today. Her emphasis on customer focus and proactive action is at the heart of her training programmes at all levels.

Jane joined Spearhead Training, Qatar, in 2011, as a Senior Management Associate.
