Tess is a UK national, and a highly experienced professional, whose early expertise was gained in adult literacy and public relations. She has been based in Dubai since 1996.

Tess began her career in training by teaching adults for The Special Adult Learning Programme in Bedfordshire, U.K., where she taught basic literacy skills, both one to one, and in small groups. Her success and experience gained in this area led to internal promotions, where she was then given the responsibility to organize long term learning programmes for adults of a variety of ability levels, from those who were illiterate to improvers in basic skills.

Following her introduction to training and personal development, Tess then worked in the UK in Public Relations for a major UK Arts Centre. She moved on to a similar position with Whipsnade Park, one of the UK’s premiere zoological parks. One of her key responsibilities in this position was the development and training of new staff dealing with the visiting public.

At the same time as working at Whipsnade, Tess had a freelance role with the local BBC Radio Station. Her key areas of focus were ‘human interest‘ stories for a popular local arts programme. Her work with the media included organizing local audience research surveys to assess both TV and radio viewing figures.

In 1994 she entered the field of secondary education as a specialist tutor in English, Communications and Media. After working for two years at a popular college outside Cambridge, the desire to return to the Middle East (where she was originally educated) became very strong, and she relocated to Dubai. Here she took up the post of English and Communications specialist at Dubai College.

In 2006, after ten successful years at the College, Tess returned to her first love – that of training and developing adults. She joined Spearhead Training as a Senior Management Associate in 2006 with responsibility for developing and delivery of specialized English courses for organizations in the U.A.E.

Her expertise lies in assessing potential delegates for English programmes, and tailoring courses to meet the needs of the Gulf workplace. This involves understanding corporate styles, formats, templates, etc., clearly identifying areas for improvement, and delivering targeted courses that can make a positive contribution to meeting both the needs of delegates, and their organizations.

Having worked with over 30 nationalities in Dubai, Tess is highly competent to deliver top quality English courses to delegates with a wide range of abilities and from different backgrounds. The particular courses she specializes in are:
