Terah is a well travelled Canadian national, who has lived in eight countries on 3 continents. She now resides in Doha, Qatar. Her initial tertiary education took place in the U.S. where she received a Bachelor of General Studies, with an emphasis in Humanities, from Brigham Young University, Utah, in April, 2000. She also holds a Master of Communication Studies degree from Arizona State University, gained in 2002. Terah’s Master’s thesis focused on the philosophical, cultural and societal issues that influence our way of communicating on an interpersonal and mass scale. Her strong cross-cultural knowledge, together with her practical business and international experience, gives her a very solid foundation for developing people in this region, and further afield.

Before embarking on her tertiary education, Terah worked at an orphanage in Palestine and spent several months with an Inuit Indian family in Northern Canada. In 1997 - 1998 she worked as a full time volunteer with orphans in Sibu, Romania, teaching English.

During her undergraduate studies, Terah focused on journalism and media writing, and was an editorial writer at Brigham Young University. In 1999 - 2000, she completed her final year of undergraduate studies by moving to Split, Croatia to take up a one year work assignment. She was employed by Nihon Nutraceutical Company, Croatia, as International Relations Marketing Specialist, liaising between the company and Croatian athletes, helping to develop business and build strong relationships throughout Croatia.

While earning her Masters degree in 2000, Terah was the Programme Coordinator for the Executive Master of International Management (M.I.M.) programme at Thunderbird School of Global Management, Glendale, Arizona. The school’s International M.B.A. has been ranked as the number one International Business School in the United States by U.S. News and World Report for 16 consecutive years, (including 2011), and ‘Best in International Business’ by the Financial Times for 5 consecutive years (including 2011). In this role, she worked one-on-one with C.E.O.s and senior executives, to implement new strategies to increase programme efficiency, customer service, and improve overall recruitment. The primary focus was on Customer Service and Quality. It was at this time that Terah developed a keen interest in recruitment, and in 2001 she took up the position of Recruitment Coordinator at Thunderbird.

This role gave her extensive experience in the hiring process, both assisting the students in seeking employment, and the recruiters in selecting appropriate candidates. She was also involved in organizing and managing recruitment events, including the bi-annual Career Fair in Glendale. In this role, she supervised all the logistics and set-up for recruiters’ visits, whilst acting as the key liaison between the business school and over 100 recruiters.

Additionally, she organized, planned, and coordinated ‘Orientation Week’ at the school, two annual international trips to (Beijing, China, and Guadalajara, Mexico) and graduation ceremonies. She also acted as primary coordinator for the first overseas Executive Masters Programme in Asia.

From 2001 - 2007, Terah was an Instructor of English Business Communication at Thunderbird for the Executive Education programme. She taught and provided individual and group feedback for an average of 50 Latin American Business Executives attending an English Business Communication course, each semester. Terah’s teaching focused on ethics and technical business writing, which formed part of the Executives’ Masters qualification.

Terah moved from the U.S. to Dubai in 2007, to work as an Associate Professor of Business English Communications at S.P. Jain Centre for Management, Dubai. In her four year tenure with them, she restructured and designed new training programmes, implemented new modules for junior and senior MBA students (from 7 nationalities), that focused on personal marketability and intercultural communication skills. She also mentored individual students to develop and improve intercultural communication skills. Terah liaised closely between the recruitment office responsible for student placement, and ensured the students adhered to current market changes and demands. She also designed and implemented intercultural training modules for the M.B.A. students that were focused on English communication skills (both written and verbal). Her favourite role at S.P. Jain was mentoring and training an average of 120 students, from diverse backgrounds, on a bi-annual basis. She also provided personal assessments, and one-to-one feedback, to increase success in the U.A.E. and international job markets.

Whilst working with S.P. Jain as Associate Professor over the four year period in Dubai, Terah also travelled regularly to Nepal to carry out volunteer work teaching English and basic computer skills to socially deprived Nepali youth. She found this assignment particularly fulfilling and rewarding.

In 2011, Terah joined Spearhead Training, Qatar, as a Senior Management Associate. Her passion and excitement for training is evident in her delivery of each course. She is committed and determined to ensure that delegates feel comfortable to participate, engage, and ultimately improve their performance and personal development. Terah’s diverse background and experiences help to make her training enriching, exciting, and impactful.
